Speaker

Prof. Giandomenico Amendola, DIMES (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Informatica, Modellistica, Elettronica e Sistemistica), Università della Calabria.

Abstract

In the last few years, the Microwave group at the Università della Calabria has developed an intense research activity on integrated active antennas for Satellite and Mobile applications also through the participation in various national and European projects.

The seminar will be aimed at presenting the main results of these activities with specific attention to the design of integrated front-end and therefore to the development of SiGe integrated circuits, advanced integration techniques, and phased array radiators. The seminar will also review some recent developments on antennas for automotive radar applications and for compact transportable satellite terminals (manpack).

About the Speaker

Giandomenico Amendola received the Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Calabria, Rende, Italy, in 1987. He was a Research Fellow with the Proton Synchrotron Division, European Center for Nuclear Research, Geneva, Switzerland, from 1988 to 1992. He is currently with the Department of Informatics, Modeling, Electronics and System Engineering, University of Calabria, as an Associate Professor. His current research interests include antennas, phased arrays, and microwave and millimeter-wave circuits.
