The relationship between the University of Trento and Sichuan gets stronger in an attempt to give broad visibility to our University in a Chinese region with one million students and 94 universities and colleges.

On 25 November Paolo Collini, Rector of the University of Trento, and Caidong Xiong, vice-president of international relations at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC), signed a bilateral agreement to strengthen cooperation on common research areas and promote incoming and outgoing mobility of students and research fellows (up to 10 months) and faculty members (from one to six months)
The departments of the University of Trento which will take part in the project with UESTC are the following: Economics and Management; Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering; Industrial Engineering; Physics; Mathematics; Information Engineering and Computer Science; Sociology and Social Research.

The agreement, which might be renewed in five years, offers students the opportunity to work on their doctoral thesis under a joint PhD programme, and benefits for those who want to attend courses at the partner university.

The agreement is part of a wider cooperation effort between the Chinese region of Sichuan and economic and cultural institutions of Trentino that started in the spring of 2014. The University of Trento became increasingly involved in the project and welcomed the visit of a Sichuan government delegation in July 2015, which reinforced the relationship.

A delegation from the University of Trento led by Rector Paolo Collini and the vice rector for international development Maurizio Marchese visited UESTC in March, together with the delegation of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
