Massimo Borghi – Phd student in Physics – awarded for the best scientific presentation, reserved for Phd students

Awarded in Paris by Nature Photonics

Versione stampabile

Two International acknowledgments in a month. Two members of the Department of Physics of the University of Trento, a professor and a Phd student,  have been awarded important attestations.

Sergio Zerbini, Professor of  theoretical physics, mathematical models and methods, was nominated honorary professor in Russia by  TSPU - Tomsk State Pedagogical University. Massimo Borghi, a student in the second year of his Phd in Physics was awarded the “Best Student Oral Presentation” prize by “Nature Photonics” at an International congress on photonics held in Paris.

Massimo Borghi commented: «I study nanophotonics and integrated silicon photonics. The work I was awarded for was presented at the International  conference on photonics “Group IV Photonics”. The study deals with the production of  chaotic optic signals on photonic chips with the option to use them to generate random numbers. This is increasingly required by modern cryptography and security algorithms. The competition was addressed to Phd students only and was awarded by the journal “Nature Photonics”, the most important in the field. The competition considered clarity and level of interest risen among the public».
