On 28 May the University Board of Directors unanimously approved the 2015 Balance.

The Profit and loss account has a positive result of 3.6 million euro, with revenues and contributions of 182.5 million and 170.0 million costs. The Autonomous Province of Trento confirmed the financial contribution currently allocated while waiting for the approval of the General Plan for Research and Advanced University Education for the period 2015-2017.

The sum of revenues and contributions is made of the allocations of the Autonomous Province of Trento and other institutions (136.9 million euro, thus - 3% compared to last year); students fees and contributions (20.6 million euro, thus + 9%); allocations for research and teaching activity (17.7 million euro, + 32%); revenues for commercial contracts (5.8 millino euro, - 6%) and other minor revenues (1.6 million euro, -21%).

The Autonomous Province of Trento adds its funding to the national funding, amounting to about 76 million, thus reaching a total of 128.4 million. Further, the University benefits from 11.1 million euro from the EU (9.9 million for research projects, 1.2 million for grants and other international mobility projects), thus underlining the ability of the University of Trento to attract international significant funds. The State contribution amounts to 3 million. The support by the Ca.Ri.TRo foundation is in line with last year.

The total running costs 2014 are 170.0 million euro (+ 0.1%). The most significant cost item regards staff and employees (80.0 million euro, + 1%). Another significant item is services (65.5 million euro, 32.3 of which regard training and research activities, + 8.7%). The increase is due to grants (7.5 million euro) and PhD grants (7.3 million euro). The amounts regarding the merit- based money awards (2.6 million) and the money allocated to “Prizes and services for students” (5.6 million).

Within the item “Services” we notice: a higher cost for the management of estates and buildings (11.7 million), while the costs for services and contracts regarding research and management activities are similar to those of 2013 (12.8 million), like those for “Other services” (7.6 million) and “Services for staff” (1.0 million).

The plan to strengthen the university estates and buildings, started in 2001, continued throughout 23014 as well, in line with the available financial resources. The investments paid during the financial year amount to 9.9 million, most of which due to the renovation costs of the first part of the Ex Manifatture Tabacchi buidling in Rovereto and at the Scientific Department Fabio Ferrari, in Povo.
