Contest "Report the UN Climate Conference" in Marrakech

Versione stampabile

“Report the UN Climate Change Conference” is a new contest promoted by the Viração&Jangada association ahead of the UN negotiations on climate change (Conference of the Parties – COP22) to be held in Marrakech (Morocco) from 7-18 November 2016.

The initiative is part of the project “A global citizenship to face climate change” targeting high school students and students enrolled at the University of Trento. The action is coordinated by several Trentino organizations involved in international cooperation and environmental sustainability: In Medias Res Association, Unimondo, Fontana Foundation, IPSIA Trentino, Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence, with the scientific support of the Trentino Observatory on Climate.

The contest will select two university students between 18 and 30 years of age, who will be allowed to participate in training courses and raising-awareness initiatives (to be held in Trentino) about the main issues discussed at the Conference. During the COP22 of Marrakech, participants will be involved in collaborative journalism activities.

Students will be acknowledged by the UN system and will be part of a team composed of 30 young people from all over the world. Participants will report the events of the UN conference from the point of view of youth by means of articles, photos and videos. The elaborated media will be published on the new website of the Youth Press Agency (www.stampagiovanile.it) and shared on traditional media and social networks. The Youth Press Agency is an international active citizenship project promoting the creative use of traditional and new media. During the COPs, it involves young people from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, Greece and Denmark.
