Election of student representatives 2016-2018: 31.6% of eligible voters cast their ballot

Last 22 and 23 November, 4,923 students of the University of Trento voted to elect their representatives in University bodies and in the committees of departments and centres for the 2016-2018 term.

That number, out of a total of 15,555 eligible voters, represents about 32% of the student body, a remarkable increase if compared to the previous turnout, for the 2014-2016 term, of 21%.

For the election of representatives in the Academic Senate, the group that overall obtained more votes is UDU Trento, followed by UNITin.

The two organizations united in a coalition for the election of representatives in the committees of departments and centres.

The elections took place on 22 and 23 November, the groups competed against each other in a system ensuring proportional representation. The unofficial results have been provided by the Office for Collegial Bodies and Support to the Evaluation Group of the University of Trento. The electoral committee will verify the results on 25 November.

Statutory bodies
For the 2 places reserved to student representatives in the Academic Senate, UDU Trento globally obtained 2092 votes; UNITiN 2047; Team Atreju Trento 397.
For the 4 places in the Joint Committee for the Right to Study and the Valorisation of merit: Team Atreju Trento obtained 594 votes and UDU – UNITiN 3838.
For the 2 representatives in the Sport committee, Team Atreju Trento obtained 641 votes and UDU – UNITiN 3826.
For the 3 student representatives in the Board of Directors of Opera Universitaria, UDU - UNITiN obtained 3865 votes and Team Atreju Trento 609.
Based on these results, the students elected to the Academic Senate are Lorenzo Tait (UNITiN) and Daniele Facci (UDU Trento); to the Joint Committee: Alessio Morini, Filippo Gioachin and Luca Longhi of UDU – UNITiN and Luca Sbaraini of Team Atreju Trento; to the Sport committee Carlotta Barina and Andrea Sommavilla of UDU – UNITiN; in the Board of Directors of Opera universitaria Chiara Bellini, Luca De Benedittis and Luca Bocchio Ramazio.

Departments and centres
As concerns the turnout in departments and centres, the 15% quorum requirement was attained everywhere.
Turnout varies from one department to another, from a minimum of 18,6% (Faculty of Law) to a maximum of 58,6% (Physics department).
