Italian National Rankings: UniTrento in top position

Excellent results also in the international rankings.

Trento is again in top position in the Italian and international university rankings, thanks to its self-financing capacity, the willingness to be open to Europe and to the world, its success in the scientific research sector and the satisfaction expressed by students for the available services.

At national level the University of Trento ranks among the best unversities in the  Censis rankings, which is annually published by the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.  In the 2013/14 edition UniTrento gains the 2nd position among the medium sized universities (10 to 20 thousand students), with 97.8. It is group Trento obtained the best score in its category for internationalization (106 su 110).

The rankings published by the Italian financial newspaper Sole 24 Ore, placed UniTrento in 1st position among the best Italian public universities. The used indicators regard both teaching and research activities. Trento’s strengths are: Attractiveness (ratio of students coming from outside Trentino); Efficiency (ratio of non-active students); External funding (capacity to obtain financial resources for research projects); International mobility (ratio of ECTS obtained by students while being abroad); Research (evaluation of the research products in the Anvur study).

The 2013 Report by ANVUR (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University system) UniTrento ranks first in the category of scientific production of medium universities. ANVUR evaluated the scientific products of 133 structures in Italy: 95 universities and 38 research institutions. Unitrento results are well above the national average score, in 11 out of the 16 disciplinary sectors taken into account. 

At international level, Trento is in the 441-450 group, in the QS World University Rankings 2013-14  rankings: again one of the very few Italian universities classified in this rankings: 13th overall position among the 26 taken into account. Trento has been indicated among the best universities as for Sociology (among the first 150 in the world) and for Law (among the first 200).

The THE - Times Higher Education Rankings is drafted by Thomson Reuters for Times and it places Trento first among the 15 universities evaluated in the rankings: in the 201-225 group and at 219th position among the best 400 universities of the world. 

The THE rankings use indicators evaluating the overall performance of the research institutions in their activities: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international reputation. Considering these starting points, the improvement of the positioning of the University of Trento is due to its open-minded approach and its international reputation.
