On the occasion of the 14th edition of "Palazzi aperti. I Municipi del Trentino per i Beni culturali", the Municipality of Trento - through its Culture, Tourism, Youth Policies Service, and the University of Trento, have arranged an itinerary to display its historical and cultural heritage and the most recent works designed by notable architectural firms.

Two initiatives are in place:

  • visits to Palazzo Sardagna, seat of the Rectorate of the University, as part of the guided tour of the city centre organized by Trento APT, the local tourist office, on Saturday afternoons;
  • guided tours of the University’s buildings in the framework of “Palazzi aperti”, on Friday afternoons (THE INITIATIVE IS OVER).

Palazzo Sardagna (Rectorate) in the guided tours organized by APT Trento on Saturday afternoon

From Saturday 13 May and on the following Saturdays until the end of July Palazzo Sardagna, seat of the Rectorate of the University, will be open to the public as part of the guided tour of the city centre organized by Trento APT, the local tourist office.

The tour will make a short stop at the Rectorate and continue to the nearby Palazzo Roccabruna.

The University of Trento in “Palazzi Aperti” (THE INITIATIVE IS OVER)

12 - 19 - 26 May and 2 June 2017
14.30 pm
The meeting point for the tour is the Rectorate in Via Calepina 14, Trento

On this guided tour, for the first time visitors will explore the cultural heritage of the University of Trento, and learn about its history since it was founded, back in 1962, by the then President of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Bruno Kessler, up to the construction of the new, recently opened, Central University Library, designed by architect Renzo Piano.

From Palazzo Sardagna - current seat of the Rectorate in via Calepina - the visitors will be guided to the building hosting the Department of Sociology - the historical core of the University - and then to the Faculty of Law, the Department of Humanities, and the School of International Studies.

The guided tour ends in the new Albere neighbourhood with a visit to the BUC, the new Central University Library.

This unique initiative will give visitors the opportunity to look at the university under a different light: they will not see the books, students and teachers that live in these buildings on a daily basis, but walk through the corridors where the history of this young but prestigious University began and continues.
