Falling walls lab 2015

Application deadline extended to 20th of June!

The event Falling Walls Lab will be held at the University of Trento on 3 July. The event is organized annually in various nations and this year Italy will host it for the first time. The Lab is aimed at selecting the best innovative ideas submitted by young talents, in all scientific sectors.
The selection is open not only to the academic worlds – graduate course students, post-doc, and researchers – but also to entrepreneurs and professionals, under 35. Every candidate shall present their innovative idea, project or entrepreneurial model to a jury of experts from various fields. They will have 3 minutes time to present their idea so that it can be understood by non-experts also. It is a challenging opportunity, a lot is at stake: the winner of the local selection will participate in the final stage of the competition in Berlin on 8 November and, on the next day, to attend the final conference, thus listening to the speeches delivered by some of the most influent scientists of the world.

The conference is held on the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall: a reminder of an epic historical moment which marked the fall of a physical barrier and above all the enlargement of the borders and the start of a new mingling of different cultures and peoples. An unprecedented moment which changed history. “What are the next walls to fall?”, this is the question to be answered by the contest candidates, doomed to make their mark.

The initiative is aimed at convening open-minded and creative people, capable to think and prepare solutions also to everyday problems, to innovate and concretely enhance all fields of knowledge and activities, spanning from medicine to agriculture, from economics to humanities.

The Falling Walls Lab Trento will be held on 3 Julyat the Department of Sociology and Social research. Applications are welcome online until 20 June directly on  website  of the foundation. Participation is free of charge.

The members of the Selection Committee are:
Professor Nicola Pugno (former speaker at Falling Walls in Berlin and coordinator for the University of Trento as far as the initiative), Federico Della Croce (Director of the Department of Control and Compute Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Turin), Marco Sardina (Director R&D and Open Innovation of Zambon SpA), Sara Spilimbergo (Professor at the University of Padua), Anna Tampieri (Head of Research Unit at CNR-ISTEC).
