LIMS lunch seminars 2023
Memory studies in Trento – Multidisciplinary perspectives / Studiare la memoria a Trento – Prospettive multidisciplinari
Memory studies are a recent discipline, which has been officially established in 2008 with the publication of the first issue of the scientific journal Memory Studies. It is in fact a multi- and inter-discipline, which benefits from the contribution of several disciplines which focus on memory as both an investigation object and a research perspective, starting from different theoretical and methodological backgrounds as well as different thematic interests: history, sociology, anthropology, literature, law, culture theory, philosophy, psychology, media studies. In the framework of the LIMS – Interdepartmental Lab Memory and Society of the University of Trento, a first seminar series will take place, monthly, from May to December 2023. The series will show the intrinsic richness of the discipline, which has been actively cultivated in Trento for many years, in particular in the area of ancient Greek History (Department of Humanities), and at the Department of Sociology and Social Research. Scholars from different disciplinary backgrounds will discuss about their research activities and scientific experiences revolving around memory: topics under discussion will range from European memory and migration to oral tradition and anthropology, from religious symbols to professional images, from museums to public discourse, from magic to literature. The seminars are thought as informal roundtables aimed at triggering lively interdisciplinary debates, and are open to anyone interested.
The last conference scheduled on December 14th will take place in March (date yet to be defined).
L'ultimo incontro previsto per il 14 dicembre sarà posticipato a Marzo (data ancora da definire).
