Monika Weissensteiner short bio
Monika Weissensteiner is a Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellows at the School of International Studies of the University of Trento. In 2021 she obtained a PhD in Global and Cultural Criminology with a thesis on cross-border police cooperation and the control of so-called intra-EU "secondary movements". For four years she was co-convenor of the EASA network "Anthropology of Security". After graduating in Social anthropology, she worked for several years in the third sector and, in 2014, launched the "Brenner/o border monitoring" project that was later continued by the Alexander Langer Foundation. Her academic interests include legal anthropology and global criminology with a focus on transnational policing, with a particular interest for mobility configurations, borders and space.
