Collège de France visiting professor to UniTrento
Professor Antoine Compagnon will not be able to visit our University due to the ongoing strike action in France.
Given the academic prestige of Professor Compagnon, his lectures are postponed until further notice.
Two lectures at the Department of Humanities, University of Trento

- “Y a-t-il encore des antimodernes?”
In 2005, when Professor Compagnon entitled one of his book “Les antimodernes”, the term was rarely used in French, ever since Pope Pius x condemned the modernist heresy in the early 1900s.
Since then, it has become widely used to designate a literary or aesthetic current, and especially an ideological or political congeries.
Not without ambiguity or misunderstanding.
This is why it seems appropriate to return to the meaning professor Compagnon gave to this term and to reflect on the evolution of its use.
Thursday 19 aprile
Palazzo Paolo Prodi, via Tommaso Gar, 14 - room 001
- “Roland Barthes et la commande”
Roland Barthes complained very much of being overwhelmed with requests. He received texts that needed to be read; strangers wrote to him or called him to solicit appointments, articles, interviews, pieces of advice or recommendations.
As he admitted in his last courses at the Collège de France in 1979-1980, he struggled under the “weight of ‘Management’ ”.
On the other hand, the spur of the demand was necessary to him, to the extent that he was addicted to this constant flow-incapable neither of living nor of working without the impulse of accumulated delays and deadlines to respect.
