Computational biology is a new and rapidly evolving field. It is based on computational methods, the mathematical methods of theoretical physics and AI algorithms, thanks to which we can understand how diseases develop, identify drug resistance mechanisms, predict the evolution of tumors and take action immediately.

Through the most recent scientific discoveries, like the description of protein folding and unfolding processes, the 3D mapping and analysis of human genome, bioinformatic solutions for genomics, transcriptomics and epigenetics studies, will science be able to improve diagnostic techniques, lead to better treatment options, and help treat incurable diseases?

Three experts will delve into the topic:

  • Roberta Baronio, Senior Scientist in Target Discovery at Nucleome Therapeutics
  • Francesca Demichelis, Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Trento
  • Lidia Pieri, CEO of Sibylla Biotech

This is a SHARPER Trento event, funded by the European Commission as part of the European Researchers' Night - Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions.

ResearcHERs Power is a webinar series organized by HIT - Hub Innovazione Trentino to stimulate discussion on cutting edge research fields. Each event will focus on a specific subject with a panel of women scientists who love hard science.
