Cancer cells acquire unlimited proliferative potential by activating telomere maintenance mechanisms, which involve either the expression of the enzyme telomerase or the alternative lengthening of telomeres (ALT) pathways. In this seminar, we will explore the role of the telomeric long noncoding RNA TERRA in these processes and discuss how our lab is contributing to advancing this research.
