Our lab studies how histone modifications "protect" chromatin from spurious transcription during aging. We investigate low abundance markers such as histone succinylation and why it accumulates on the chromatin of individuals with projected exceptional longevity, i.e., progeny of centenarians.

To do so, we utilize methods in mass spectrometry to identify proteomes, posttranslational modifications, and quantify their heterogeneity using single cell preparations and analyses.
