Phd Days

Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering DICAM

From October 29 to 31, there will be the PhD days in Mesiano. PhD stands for Philosophy Doctor and identifies who finished doctoral studies. PhD days are for the doctoral student who study and research  for three years to get this title representing the excellence in research and innovation. DICAM has around one hundred doctoral students whose activities spans from Architecture, to Building Science, to Hydraulics, Hydrology, to the study of innovative materials, to Numerics. Students of first and second year are called to present their ongoing research for being admitted to the subsequent years. Students of the third year see their research inspected for the admission to the final steps for getting the degree.

PhD days will be three intense days for confrontation and information that gather all DICAM: by means of the PhD candidates works, all the research made at the Department is presented and deployed. Three days of full immersion from researchers to researchers but also open to all who wants to get close to the contents and aspects of contemporary research in  a large variety of topics nowadays touched by Civil Engineering, without borders towards other disciplines.

There will be around 21 seminar of 45 minutes for the presentation of the third year students and around . 55 PICO (Presenting Interactive COntent) sessions, where on special large multi touch screen, the students of the first and the second year will be presenting their  ongoing research and plans. During the three days there will be also two seminar given by professor on the employment perspectives of PhD and one seminar on the “Limit of growth” at almost 50 years from the book of MIT-Club di Roma. After any of the  latter seminars there will be a buffet lunch. Other initiatives will be care of the PhD students associations, ADI e CVD, and held at the closure of the days. Presentations and PICO session will be, obviously, very specialistic but open to the public.
