Roobopoli is a project where participant can build and program vehicles called Roobokart, which will move autonomously on the streets of the “Roobopoli smart city”.
The participants of the hackathon will implement functionalities on the Roobopoli and RoboKart platforms such as driving ability, recognition of traffic lights and obstacles.

The hackathon is tailored for high school, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. Teams will be formed regardless of age and current course of study. This will allow all members to expand their knowledge, be evaluated, and connect with scientific and business experts.

The hackathon is open to all students residing in June in Italy and in particular to Erasmus students in the country.

Number of admitted students : 30 students

Scientific director: prof. Davide Brunelli

Organization: Università di Trento, FBK e STMicroelectronics; in parallelo con il workshop IEEE “Metrology for Industry 4.0 & IoT”

Evaluation committee: Representatives of Arrow, FBK, Perlatecnica, STMicroelectronics, and the University of Trento

Agenda

June 7

Experts from Perlatecnica and FBK will give a tutorial to initiate challengers into the competition. The competition rules will also be explained in detail.

June 8

Teams will continue to develop the requirements of the proposed challenges.

June 9

The third day will be dedicated to reviewing implementations. A jury of experts will evaluate the behavior of the vehicle, and decide the ranking. The team that will have obtained the highest score will be the winner of Challenge Roobopoli!

Collaborations

  • STMicroelectronics and FBK provide respectively the “Nucleo" control boards and the gas sensors, with the intent to stimulate the involvement of new generations in the development of cutting-edge technologies.
  • Roobokarts are provided by the Perlatecnica association. UNITN will provide space and training.
  • STMicroelectronics and FBK promote and support this initiative as part of the dissemination activities of the research results produced by the IPCEI project.
