The dynamics of large rotors is a subject that finds application in many fields of engineering, from flight to power generation. It is also full of counterintuitive phenomena, which often lead us engineers to completely incorrect conclusions.
In this seminar, we will review the physical, dynamic and aerodynamic mechanisms that regulate their functioning and we will understand how to exploit them in engineering applications.

Biografy

Jacopo Serafini graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2005 and obtained his doctorate in 2009. He is currently a fixed-term researcher (RTdA) at the "Department of Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Aeronautical Technologies" of the University of Rome Tre where he also teaches "Flight Dynamics" and "Wind Turbine Design" at the engineering MScs courses of Roma Tre University.

His research activity focuses on flight dynamics, aeroelasticity, aerodynamics and aeroacoustics of rotary-wing aircraft. In recent years he has introduced a line of research relating to the study of the dynamics and control of onshore and offshore wind turbines. He is involved in many European, National and Industrial projects.
