Trento International Silk Conference

June 12-15, 2019
Versione stampabile
Dear colleague,
A warm welcome to the Trento International Silk Conference that will take place on 12th-15thJune 2019.
The Silk conferences are the major events for this protein-based material community and provide a unique occasion for scientists to exchange ideas on the current state of the art and on new research directions. The International Silk Conferences Series has already been organized in different countries, Montreal (Canada) in 2004, New York City (USA) in 2010, Shanghai/Soochow (China) in 2014, and Sheffield (UK) in 2017, just to mention some of them.
The three-day conference that will be held in Trento will bring together over 80 experts in the field of silk science and industry from all around the world, in order to overcome the current challenges in the Silk field.  The intent of the International Conference is to generate a multidisciplinary discussion around the key challenges in the field and foster collaboration with the aim to give everyone an equal platform to showcase their science.
To keep this a focused meeting and ensure active discussion, we are limiting numbers of attendees.
We hope to see you in Trento.

  • Protein structure and intermolecular interactions

  • Characterization in liquid and solid state

  • Self-assembling mechanism of silk and silk’s proteins

  • Standardization of processing

  • New uses for silks – e.g., optical and electronic materials

  • Spider silk properties, uses, processing

  • Recombinant silk

  • Fabrication of bio-inspired materials with superior properties.

  • Silk from genetically modified organisms

The first tentative program, will be available at the beginning of the 2019 in the Conference website.
