Complex networks in low dimensional spaces
Abstract: In this talk I will present a chef selection of past research projects and future research ideas. Most of them deal with complex networks, and in particular their time evolution.
The common theme in these projects is the use of low-dimensional embeddings for networks (Random Dot Product graphs), an envy of dynamical system models, a somewhat sceptic interest for Neural Networks, and a passion for ecological and social networks.
During the talk, I will make my best to convince you that this apparently arbitrary juxtaposition of topics and techniques is indeed a good match.
If I'm successful, the not so hidden aim of the talk is to invite you to help me out.
As you will see, the palette of necessary skills is wide and interdisciplinary.
