Abstract
The rank of a polynomial is a number that measures its complexity. There are several different ranks that we can consider. Comon’s problem asks when the tensor rank and the symmetric rank coincide. A more refined problem is to compare the symmetric rank to the partially symmetric rank. We show that they coincide for a family of reducible quartics.
