Abstract:
Motivated by some puzzling results from the study of trans-planckian energy collisions of particles and strings we have recently  addressed the problem of gravitational bremsstrahlung in ultra-relativistic particle collisions both at the classical and at the quantum level.  In spite of being completely different, the two calculations agree perfectly well in the appropriate limit and exhibit interesting features reminiscent of those of Hawking’s radiation.
