Between Involvement and Profit: Value (Un-)Captured
Abstract
The presented research examines the creation, capture, and uncapture of sustainable value through collaboration, co-creation, and stakeholder engagement. The research identifies the dimensions of sustainable value creation and perception based on qualitative research methods, including desk research, an interview with a start-up's founder, and a complementary Delphi study with external experts. The study also highlights the complexity of sustainable value drivers and management concepts implemented by socially involved start-ups in a growing economy. The findings provide insights into the possibilities and perspectives of sustainable value creation and uncapture in social start-ups and prioritize management issues for their business model and social impact. Overall, this study contributes to the understanding of the socially constructed phenomena and management concepts of sustainable value creation and uncapture in a start-up context.
