Venue: Department of Humanities of UniTrento, via Tommaso Gar, 14 - Trento

The Department of Humanities of the University of Trento, in cooperation with the Department of Economics and Management and the participation of the Faculty of Law, the Department of Sociology and Social research and the SSI - School of International Studies, the Bereich Geistes und Sozialwissenschaften of theTechnische Universität Dresden (TUD) organise a Summer School within the framework of the strategic partnership (“strategische Partnerschaft”) between the two universities.

The interdisciplinary initiative is structured into two sessions:

  • Language and culture (mainly focussing of linguistic and cultural topics);
  • Migration and demographic change (with lessons in the fields of social science, economics and law)

The official languages of the Summer School are German, Italian and English. The teaching staffs come from both universities.

The Summer School aims at analysing the types of knowledge transfer (reception of the ancient culture, use of the arts of the 17th century) and language theories (language philosophy, language contacts phenomena, multilingualism and migration flows) on the one side. On the other hand it will deal with the analysis of the impact of the migration flows and demographic change on the social, economic and cultural interactions, today and in the past.

The School participants will contribute through presentations on their research topics, essays (Master’s Degree/PhD or Post-Doc dissertations). The active participation will give to the students the opportunity to have their work be evaluated in a critical manner, to refine their opinion on the submitted topics, to widen their academic network and, last but not least, to strengthen their intercultural skills.

Participation:
The School will admit 20 students attending a Master’s courses, a PhD course or post-docs of the University of Dresden, and 20 of the University of Trento (10 for each of the two sections). Attendance is free and meals will be paid by the organizing institutions.
Participants will be granted ECTS upon prior agreement with the coordinators of the course they are attending.
