Eleanor Roosevelt
After a youthful involvement in the American peace movements, Eleanor Roosevelt was the first First Lady to hold an independent political office that addressed numerous issues. Three issues in particular make Eleanor Roosevelt a central figure in international politics: her commitment to refugees after the Second World War, the establishment of an international human rights regime, her commitment against nuclear proliferation.
