Public Keynote Speech "European Nationalisms"

  • André Lécours, School of Political Studies, University of Ottawa

Prof. Lécours will explain the change in the nature of self-determination claims of nationalist movements (from autonomy to secession in Catalonia, Scotland and, to a lesser degree Flanders) and the other way around in Québec. In addition to these four cases, the discussion will also focus on the moderation in Basque nationalism, the marginality of the independence option in Puerto Rico, and the altogether disappearance of the Western Australia secessionist movement.
