"America's First Pacific President? U.S. - European relations under Barack Obama"
The talk will discuss Euro-American relations under the Presidency of Barack Obama. It will examine the role of Europe in the redefined geopolitical hierarchies of the United States, the frequent tensions within the Atlantic alliance but also the power, and persistence, of a peculiar European infatuation with the 44th American President. The talk will try to address this basic contradiction between the resilience of the Obama’s mythology in Europe and the declining importance of the continent in America’s strategic priorities and attentions.
