ABSTRACT:
The seminar focuses on the political history of the Horn of Africa to highlight issues and themes common to the broader sub-Saharan region. Special attention will be given to the colonial construction, the post-colonial ethno-national and international conflicts (war between Somalia and Ethiopia, Eritrean, Oromo and Somali ethno-nationalisms, collapse of the State in Somalia and the war between Eritrea and Ethiopia),  the introduction of ethnic federalism, issues of human rights and the new scenario on development and conflict prevention based on the Igad regional organisation.
