“Peaceland” suggests a new explanation for why international peace interventions often fail to reach their full potential. Based on several years of ethnographic research in conflict zones around the world, it demonstrates that everyday elements – such as the expatriates’ social habits and usual approaches to understanding their areas of operation – strongly influence peacebuilding effectiveness.

Official Launch of the NEW Two-Year Master’s Degree in International Security Studies (MISS)

Deconstructing Security: Don't MISS the global picture!

The School of International Studies of the University of Trento and the Institute Dirpolis of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa) will officially launch on Tuesday 3 May the new Two-Year Master’s Degree in International Security Studies.

The speakers will consider the main challenges of international security under the perspectives of economics, political and legal studies, criminology and strategic studies.

The founding ideas and the main features of the Programme will be described and discussed.

The White Paper on International Security and Defense reiterates the strategic priority of the Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Mediterranean regions for Italy, and outlines a significant reform process aimed at increasing integration among the components of the Defense system, strengthening the political guidance of the Minister and the capability of the military leadership to act as a single body, as well as improving the current professional model.
