A mentoring programme at UniTrento

Alumni to support recent graduates and students

Versione stampabile

Alumni UniTrento is offering its recent graduates and students the opportunity to join a mentoring programme.

Mentoring is basically a training process in which an experienced individual, the mentor, supervises and encourages the career and professional development of another person, the mentee, in a relationship of mutual trust and support.

The training methodology of mentoring combines the traditional training approach based on the transmission of theoretical knowledge with experiential training, to develop skills and behaviours to be implemented, through the sharing of information and reflections based on a relationship that stimulates an open, emotional and conscious communication between mentor and mentee.

Objectives

The aim of the programme is to support, through mentoring, the personal and professional development of young students and recent graduates of the University of Trento.

Duration of the programme

The programme will start in May 2021 and end in December 2021.

Programme details

The programme includes:

  • 2 opening webinars for the mentees to outline the programme's objectives, learn the strategies for effective listening and relationship building, fully grasp the opportunity offered and share organizational aspects

  • At least 1 monthly meeting of a couple of hours between mentor and mentee starting from June until December (6 meetings). Each couple will agree on dates, times and modes (online or face-to-face)

  • Peer mentoring and networking meetings during the programme that will be communicated as the programme evolves

  • A closing event with mentors and mentees (to be defined).

Each mentee will sign a training agreement with their mentor, defining the areas and objectives to work on in the meetings that will follow.

The mentees will write a journal of their meetings and take monitoring questionnaires during and at the end of the project. In December they will also be involved in group meetings to analyze their experience in order to take stock of progress made. A Telegram group will be created for mentees.
