Distance programme in Business management for Fiemme and Fassa valleys

An opportunity for retraining

Versione stampabile

Classes are about to start in Predazzo for the first three students of the part time degree in Business Management who will attend remotely. They will stream in the late afternoon and in the evening from the Department of Economics and Management of UniTrento, that will also provide a dedicated tutor. A great opportunity for retraining

The collaboration between the University of Trento, the Community of Val di Fiemme and Comun General de Fascia to offer the part-time degree programme in Business Management to local residents is moving its first steps. The programme is offered by the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trentino and no other university in Italy has organized anything similar in the past ten years. The collaboration will strengthen the organizational aspects of the programme to reach even more students in our region. For the most part, these are working people who are looking for an opportunity for retraining or continuing education. The first three students to start the distance programme that will lead them to a degree are Vanessa Fontanari and Dominique Capovilla, from Ziano, and Anita Defrancesco from Predazzo. The students started to attend their classes from home in the first semester, while the organizers were searching for a proper classroom that has been found at Istituto la Rosa Bianca in Predazzo.

Attendance at University is usually in person. To offer the course to students who live far from Trento, in the Fiemme and Fassa valleys, the University has organized a live streaming of classes and appointed a local dedicated tutor. Starting from the second semester, which is about to begin, the students will be able to attend the classes remotely at the classroom provided by Istituto la Rosa Bianca in Predazzo. Classes take place in the evening, between 5.30 pm and 9.30 pm, and the relationships with faculty are facilitated by a classroom tutor, Professor Giorgio Trettel, and two UniTrento tutors, Martina Dell'Eva and Emanuele Corn. The programme's duration is four years instead of the usual three, given that the course days per week will be 2 or 3. Students are also supervised by a subject tutor for further support.

Yesterday, a collaboration agreement was signed by the representatives of the three institutions involved: the director of the Department of Economics and Management, Flavio Bazzana, the commissioner of the Community of Fiemme, Giovanni Zanon and the procurador of the Comun General de Fascia, Giuseppe Detomas, with the principal of Istituto la Rosa Bianca, Marco Felicetti. Professor Mariangela Franch, who is the creator and coordinator of the programme, attended remotely. The meeting was also attended by the general secretaries Luisa Degiampietro for Fiemme and Elisabetta Gubert for Fassa, as well as by Marco Larger, president of the conference of the mayors of Fiemme, the mayor of Sen Jean, Giulio Florian, and the mayor of Predazzo, Maria Bosin, the coordinators of the working table Andrea Dezulian and Carlo Dellasega, and some members of the table.

The agreement, that will last four years and can be renewed, aims to make this initiative stable so that it can become an opportunity for continuous training for local professionals, who are interested in updating their skills in the field of business development and tourism, a strategic sector for the two valleys.
The agreement however was also an opportunity to invite residents of Fiemme and Fassa valleys to get involved, as potential students of the next academic year. Registrations are already open for the spring session of admission tests (there are 55 places available for the next academic year), and will continue until 23 March. For information, visit the admissions page on the website of UniTrento.

Business Management (part time) - This undergraduate degree aims to provide students with knowledge in the areas of economics and business, business law, mathematics and statistics. The course has its strength in a combination of teaching and learning approaches, where theory and practice are developed at the same time. The programme, in fact, also aims to meet the needs of employers in the business sector and of banks, public or private organizations, administrative offices, and in the management, finance and commercial area. The flexibility of the course, compared to the typical daily courses, makes this degree particularly attractive for those who are already at work and are looking for opportunities for retraining or professional improvement.
