The Academic Senate of the University of Trento expresses deep concern for the mass arrests and the limitation of human rights in Turkey. The Senate strongly reaffirms the values of democracy and freedom of research, freedom of speech and freedom of expression, and declares its support for the members of the Turkish academic community who are victims of repression, in the hope that the Turkish government will respect human dignity and fundamental rights.
The Academic Senate therefore endorses the statement made by the European University Association (The motion was unanimously approved by the CRUI Assembly on 21 July 2016) and by the Observatory Magna Charta Universitatum
