Security Embedded: a new start-up of the University of Trento

Versione stampabile

Security Embedded is officially a University start-up. What has made it possible is the support provided by Fondazione HIT - Trentino Hub Innovation, in the framework of the European MCU Fortifer project, that transformed an idea into a technology and finally into a start-up company.

The project, funded by the digital innovation network of EIT Digital - the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, involved the University of Trento (as coordinator), Fondazione HIT, Atos (global leading company in the area of digital transformation), and Santer Reply (a consulting and digital services company).

In 2021, in various stages, the project launched on the market a software product for the protection of IoT devices called MCU Forfier and established a new start-up from the world of research.

The IoT (Internet of Things) associates objects with the use of the Internet, to maximize their ability to collect and use data for a greater digitization and automation of business processes.

The innovative product, developed by PhD students Michele Grisafi and Luca Degani supervised by Bruno Crispo, professor of the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento, specifically aims to improve the security of IoT installations to protect Industry 4.0 from cyber attacks.
