The City or Rovereto allocated 173,600 euro to the University of Trento to fund research as part of the agreement signed in 2019 and recently renewed for another three years.

The purpose of the collaboration agreement is to facilitate and strengthen cooperation between the City and the University to implement initiatives of mutual interest, from neuroscience to sustainability, from silk’s applications in biomedicine to the rediscovery of Rovereto’s historic heritage.

Rector Flavio Deflorian underlined the value of collaboration between the University and Rovereto and stressed the importance of opportunities for discussion to collect ideas at the local level. “We cannot take this collaboration for granted, it is the result of years of hard work. Rovereto, with its liveliness and vibrancy, has always invested a lot in this relationship, and can combine this spirit with its desire to grow. The collaboration extends well beyond financial support and helps the University find links between its academic activities in Rovereto and their impact on the city”. The Rector also mentioned the connection between high schools and the University, stressing that the number of students who continue their studies pursuing a degree is still too low.

The mayor of Rovereto, Francesco Valduga, commented: “The collaboration with the University of Trento is an investment in our future, a project that involves our territory and will have a positive impact on our territory. The research projects that we fund through this agreement will have multiple benefits in several areas. In Rovereto and Vallagarina, where they are well rooted, the University works with education and training entities and with high schools, in a relationship that has continued to improve over the years. Our goal is to increase the presence of the University to complete the education and training network, which is the most important investment for the growth of our community”.
