The Department of Humanities of the University of Trento prepared a digital calendar with 56 monthly episodes, between May 2014 and December 2018.

The project lagrandeguerrapiu100, is available online La Grande Guerra + 100, offers an online platform to collect contents of various nature so that everyone may discover what happened during the four years of warfare.

Every episode will focus on a specific topic, thanks to different materials and tools, showing the individual feelings of the human protagonists of that time, sided by the objective story of the events: in this way a larger number of people will be involved in the storytelling of the First World War.

Explanations, written documents, photo galleries of historical images, graphic information, statistics and illustrated tables made by young artists will create the multimedia tools, to give a complete overview of the war, combining objective facts with daily life.

Gustavo Corni, Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Trento and scientific coordinator of the project, commented that “These tools will be used to tell all levels of the war: from the Italian war front to the involvement of other European and international powers, the battles, the political events, also including the less known protagonists, who were as important as the great generals, intellectuals and politicians, but are often forgotten”.

The creation of the calendar was made possible thanks to the involvement of young historians, ICT technicians and graphic designers, to prepare a project rich in details and original, capable to involve also people who are not experts in history, in particular very young kids and students. The preview of the project was presented in Gorizia, on 25 May 2014, within the framework of the festival “èSToria”.
