Diego Misseroni receives the 2022 EML Young Investigator Award

For the results achieved in the area of origami-inspired metamaterials

Versione stampabile

Diego Misseroni, associate professor of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering, is among the recipients of the prestigious 2022 EML Young Investigator Award (EML YIA) for the results achieved in the area of origami-inspired metamaterials.

The work that earned him the prize, entitled “Experimental realization of tunable Poisson’s ratio in deployable origami metamaterials”, presents an innovative technique to investigate the properties of metamaterials and structures that can undergo large deformations.

The EML YIA, which had never been awarded to a European researcher before, honours the best young researchers under 40 who have published their highly impactful papers in the journal Extreme Mechanics Letters.

The prizes will be awarded during the MRS Fall Meeting in Boston, USA.

The research work is part of the ERC project AdG Beyond.

The paper, that was also featured on the cover of the journal, can be found on the dedicated page of the website of ScienceDirect.
