Valeria Solesin Award - eighth edition

Applications for the Valeria Solesin Award are now open.

The award is dedicated to Valeria Solesin, the Italian researcher at Sorbonne University in Paris who was killed in the Bataclan terrorist attack of 13 November 2015. It takes inspiration from Valeria’s studies, focused on the dual role of women at work and in the family, but is open to other research work on contemporary issues that underline the positive impact of the presence of women in business. Important companies and organizations participate in the initiative and support it.

The call is open to students who have defended, at any Italian or foreign university, a thesis for the achievement of a Master's Degree (or corresponding degree if the qualification is awarded by a foreign university). The qualification must be obtained by 31 July 2024 in one of the following disciplinary areas:

  • Economics
  • Sociology
  • Law
  • Political Sciences
  • Psychology
  • Education Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Demography
  • Statistics

Theses that address the theme of the importance of the gender dimension in the STEM field are also encouraged by two Special "STEM Focus" Awards. There is also a Special Award "Focus on Gender Equality Certification", which refers to theses that address the topic of Gender Certification developed within the theme of the call. This year, a Special Award "Focus on the inclusion of migrant women" was added: this award refers only to theses that address the issue of the inclusion of migrant women in society and in the labor market.

The deadline for submitting applications is 31 July 2024.
