On the occasion of the European Mobility Week (Settimana Europea della mobilità,16-22 September 2024), UniTrento and the Municipality of Trento participate in "Al lavoro in bicicletta 2024" (Ride to work), an event that aims to promote and support cycling culture in cities and in particular for home to work commutes.
On Wednesday 18 September, from 7 to 9 am, volunteers will monitor the commutes of those who choose to reach the university on foot, by bike or other means of electric mobility (electric scooters, e-bikes, etc.). Those who choose to commute from a parking lot to work using a sustainable means of transportation will also be counted.
To participate, just go to work or to class using one of the above means of transportation and register at the building's receptions in the time slot dedicated to monitoring.
Staff working from home will also be taken into account: someone working remotely is one less person driving, which means less traffic congestion and less pollution.
The data collected will be forwarded to Legambiente and will be used by the Sustainable Mobility office of the City of Trento to draw up a ranking of the public and private organizations with the greatest number of sustainable commutes compared to their size.
More information about the initiative can be found on the website of Legambiente and of the City of Trento.
