The first PhD student has completed his study programme in Comparative and European juridical studies a co-tutelle programme developed by the Faculty of Law of the University of Trento and by the School of Law of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, aimed at training legal experts capable to work in the globalisation era.

Tang Weisen was the first student to graduate, with a dissertation on the juridical profiles of the social companies.

The candidate defended his dissertation in Shanghai a few days ago. The Examining Commission was chaired by Xue Jun, full professor of Civil Law and Dean of the School of Law of the Peking University, who has been for years co-professor of Chinese Law at the University of Trento.

Tang Weisen, is 31, comes from Guangzhou and had taken his degree at the University of Changsha. After his graduation he decided to participate in the co-tutelle Trento-Shanghai Doctoral course. His studies were supervised by professor Wang Quanxing for the University of di Shanghai and Luca Nogler for the University of Trento.

The Doctoral course Director, professor Gianni Santucci expressed his satisfaction regarding the programme.

“The co-tutelle Doctoral course joining the Doctoral course of Trento and the Chinese one was signed in 2009. We are glad about the brilliant career of Tang Weisen and that two more students have enrolled. We believe that this is an extraordinary opportunity for students coming from Italy and from other countries aiming at learning the new required skills. The traditional study programme to train legal experts is limited to the “national” scenarios, and it is nowadays insufficient. The goal of the course is the training of experts who are aware of the historical, transnational and scientific connections which mark the juridical studies. Thanks to their awareness they shall be able to seize the most significant challenges, in particular in relation to the globalisation events. I hope that many other young students will seize this opportunity, both aiming at carrying out research at academic level and at working in international institutions or public administrations and private companies needing to interact with external interlocutors”.
