A financially sustainable University.

The goal is, in other words, to keep the same level of performance with less financial resources. That’s the bet the University of Trento intends to win through its Strategic plan 2017-2021, which was approved yesterday by the Board of Directors. The total estimated budget for the 5-year term amounts to 12,709,000 euro.

The multiyear plan is organized along four main lines: solving problems and seizing opportunities of social and cultural nature (e.g. migration, ageing population); supporting research and technological innovation for Italy’s competitiveness (as established in the Piano nazionale 4.0); encouraging integration and collaboration as drivers for the development of research in sectors in which the University has potential and has already achieved great results (from space research to quantum technologies); improving teaching and research towards innovation, internationalization, and inclusiveness (with actions that have a positive impact on the university and the community in general).

The University has therefore identified 35 strategic projects through which it intends to strengthen and expand its reach, capitalizing on its human resources, competencies and infrastructures, while maintaining a sustainable high quality service.

The plan encourages inter-departmental and multidisciplinary collaborations in cutting-edge fields that are likely to succeed in securing funds.
