Cancer Research UK formed a partnership with two of the major European non-profit organizations that support cancer research: AIRC (Associazione Italiana per la Ricerca sul Cancro) and FC AECC (Fundación Científica - Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer), investing 33 million euro in six international collaborations in order to accelerate progress in cancer research.Francesca Demichelis (©AIRC)

One of the six funded programmes, on advanced prostate cancer, is led by Francesca Demichelis of the Centre for Integrative Biology (CIBIO) of the University of Trento.

Her 5.7 million euro programme “Prostate cancer plasma Integrative multimodal evaluation” aims to improve liquid biopsies that help select the best treatment for patients with advanced prostate cancer.

The research team is working to identify a test that can be used in clinical trials for patient’s stratification into groups to provide tailored treatment options.

Santa Chiara Hospital in Trento is one of the clinical centres involved in the project.

Attached are the press release, the project description and a picture of professor Francesca Demichelis prepared by the press office of AIRC.
