Election of student representatives for the 2018-2020 term: 31.5% cast their ballot

Voter turnout is comparable to previous elections. The results will be officially released on 28 November

5.160 students of the University of Trento voted to elect their representatives in University bodies and in the committees of departments and centres for the 2018-2020 term.

Polling stations were open on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 November in eight university buildings.

With 31.5% of students who went to the polls out of a total of 16,402 eligible voters, the voter turnout is in line with the 2016-18 elections (31.6%), which marked a steep increase from the 21% of 2014. 

The candidates
For the election of representatives in the Academic Senate, the group that overall obtained more votes is UNITiN (2,162 votes, 44.4%), followed by UDU (1,699 votes, 34.9%), and InATENEO (744 votes, 15.3%).

The most voted group in the Board of Directors of Opera Universitaria is UNITiN – UDU (3,994 votes, 83.7%), followed by InATENEO (778 votes, 16.3%).

The groups of candidates competed against each other in a system ensuring proportional representation.

The unofficial results have been provided by the Collegial Bodies Office of the University of Trento. The electoral committee will verify the results on 28 November.

The elected representatives will be in office for two years from the date of their appointment.

Statutory bodies – The newly-elected members

The student representatives who have been elected in the Academic Senate are Caterina Guitti of UNITiN and Masseo Purgato of UDU.

The students elected in the Board of Opera Universitaria are Veronica Cipriani, Alberto Fallucca and Giacomo Gallo of the UNITiN - UDU group.

Voter turnout in departments and centres varies from one to another, from a minimum of 21% (Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science) to a maximum of 62.6% (Physics department).
