“10 years which changed the world”: an exhibition to celebrate the 10th edition of the Festival of Economics

Venue: Palazzo Sardagna, UniTrento Rector’s Office, between 30 May and 30 June 2015

Versione stampabile

Inauguration Day: on Friday 29 May, at 5.00 pm, Palazzo Sardagna - Rector's Office - via Calepina, 14 in Trento.

The Festival of Economics was launched in 2006 and ever since many changes and revolutions, in Italy and at global level, have occurred, which impact on today’s world: protagonists, events, their evolution and effects.

The title of the first edition was “Richness and poverty”, a topic which would become fundamental in the global political and economic debate of the next years. The first edition also focussed on the risks of the financial speculations, migrants and the role of Europe and of the Euro.

They are the same topics we are facing today, in a more severe way: ten years ago they were simple intuitions, they are now important problems.

In 2006 Italy won the Soccer World Cup in Germany, Saddam Hussein was sentenced to death - he was then the enemy number one of the western world - the economy was growing and the future seemed to be promising peace and stability.
However, only 12 months later the Subprime crisis started in the USA, beginning the worst global economic crisis of the world, which we are still experiencing now.

The past contained the roots of the present and the keys for the future.

The exhibition wants to tell the story of these ten years.

The exhibition is organised in three areas in Palazzo Sardagna - the Rector’s Office, in via Calepina 14, to mark three physical areas and three time spans.

The first area, at the entrance of the Palazzo Sardagna will host the "introduction“, to prepare the public telling about the birth of the Festival and the picture of the Italian and global economy throughout the 10 years.

The second area, in the courtyard, will tell more about the history of these 10 years, through the most significant events.

The last area will be marked by a single, large video installation, which will isolate random faces and world, without following any time-order, and will thus demonstrate the repetitiveness of story.

The exhibition will be open until 30 June 2015.

The opening times are:
between 30 May and 2 June: 9.00 am to 9.00 pm
between 3 and 30 June: 8.00 am to 6 pm (closed on Saturdays and Sundays).
