Marco Andreatta was elected as "corresponding member" of the Academy of Science of Turin

The University of Trento enters the club of the Academy of Science of Turin, after being already a member of the Academy of Lincei and of the Collège de France.

The professor Marco Andreatta was elected a few days ago as “Corresponding member" of the prestigious scientific academy, which includes among its members 27 Nobel Prizes, 3 "Fields medals”, one Abel Prize, the last being an award assigned every year by the King of Norway to a notable foreign mathematician, 18 Feltrinelli awards, 8 Balzan awards, one President of the USA and one President of the Italian Republic.

The Academy of Science of Turin is one of the most ancient Italian academies, it was founded in 1783 and its motto is “Veritas et utilitas”, which reflects the double task of the Academy, to the benefit of the progress of science and their application for the benefit of society.

Marco Andreatta is a professor of Geometry at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Trento. He is internationally renowned in the field of algebraic geometry and is the author of over 60 publications on the most famous journals of the sector. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Science of UniTrento and he is currently the Director of the International Centre for Mathematic Researches (CIRM) of the Bruno Kessler foundation and President of the MUSE, the Museum of Natural Sciences of Trento.
