An opportunity to earn 2 qualifications in only 4 years

Trento offers a new and extraordinary study programme for those who wish to specialize in multichannel communication and interfaces and communication technologies

Two qualifications in four years: for students wishing to specialize in multichannel communication and interfaces and communication technologies after high school there is a new study programme in Trentino.

The course is unique in Italy, and brings together the advantages of a two-year certificate of higher education – very sought after on the labour market – with those of a bachelor's degree, which is essential to be employed in positions of higher responsibility and to grow professionally.

The course, the result of collaboration between Istituto Artigianelli in Trento and the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science, was presented days ago and will welcome the first intake of students in the academic year 2019-2020.

The bachelor's degree in Interfaces and communication technologies (ITC) and the two-year higher education programme in multichannel graphic design (TAG) are an excellent example of partnership in education.

This partnership will mostly benefit TAG students, because they obtain 81 credit points if they enrol on the bachelor's degree, that is more than one third of the 180 credit points they need to graduate, amounting to the equivalent of about one year of work.

But it will also attract ITC graduates, as they can have 66 credit point recognized (out of 120) to obtain the TAG higher education certificate, which corresponds to about one year of work.

The programmes, that aim at students who will begin their first year of study in 2019-2020 either in TAG or in ITC, help bridging the gap between higher education and university.

The integration and complementarity among the two programmes – higher education and bachelor's degree – is unique in Trentino and in Italy. Istituto Artigianelli in Trento and the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science of the University of Trento worked hard to achieve this objective.

This successful collaboration led to the creation of very effective study programmes that prepare students for future challenges taking advantage of resources that are already present locally. But it also made it possible to compare the two programmes with a view to improve the courses' content and to update the offer.

Also, the students who will enrol on the TAG and the ITC programmes will participate in innovative research projects and in the creation of products and services in the laboratories of Istituto Artigianelli and at the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science, in collaboration with Fondazione Bruno Kessler.
