The University of Trento chose 3 March as the date for the inauguration of the academic year 2019-2020. The ceremony will start at 11.00, at the Paolo Prodi Building, with the minister of Universities and research, as guest of honour.

The programme has not yet been fully defined, but it has been confirmed that in addition to the traditional welcome addresses by rector Paolo Collini and other members of the University of Trento, the inauguration lecture will be given by Luciano Floridi, professor of Philosophy and ethics of information at Oxford University, where he is director of the Digital Ethics Lab at the Oxford Internet Institute.

Floridi is considered the founder of the philosophy of information, a new area of study that emerged side by side with computational research and explores connections between computer science and computer ethics, logics and epistemology, information theory.

A choice that reflects the will of the University to establish connections between different discipline areas, in teaching and learning and in research but also on public occasions like this one.
