These days China is facing a terrible epidemic. After some uncertainties in the early stages, the Chinese people responded with dignity and strength, and expressions of solidarity poured in from all over the world, with which China is today increasingly interconnected.

The world of culture, art, science and research in Italy decided to stand in solidarity with the Chinese people in "China our hearts beat for you", a campaign that aims to transform a global emergency in a wave of support and cooperation to promote friendship between peoples and cultures.

The campaign – which was presented on 21 February in Rome at SVIMEZ, the Organization for the industrial development of the south of Italy, in a ceremony attended by the Chinese ambassador to Italy, Li Jonhua – is an Italian initiative which is part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Italy-China relations.

The campaign aims raise awareness on the issue across Europe over one year, with concrete actions to strengthen relations and exchanges in culture and research.

Among the first to sign the petition was Maurizio Marchese, Vice-Rector for International development of the University of Trento.
