A further step forward for the Trento School of Medicine. Yesterday, the Rome-based National agency for the evaluation of universities and research institutes gave a positive opinion and granted accreditation to the degree programme in medicine and surgery.
The programme presented by UniTrento received the second of the four authorisations required for the final accreditation, after it was also approved weeks ago by the National University Council.
There are two more steps to go: the accreditation of UniTrento as the home of the new School of Medicine by Anvur, and the formal validation by the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research.
These steps have not been scheduled, but it seems that the final accreditation may be granted in the coming weeks, which means in time to publish the admission notice for students who should begin their studies in the academic year 2020-2021.
The call for admissions can only be published after the publication of the relevant ministerial decree, which contains the dates of admission tests and other provisions that universities must include in their notices.
The degree course will therefore start in the next academic year, thanks to the commitment of the Autonomous Province of Trento which will provide permanent funding to cover the additional costs it entails.
The press release includes statements from Rector Paolo Collini and from the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti.
