Towards the Election of the next Rector

Versione stampabile

The new Rector will take office on 1 April 2021. Carla Locatelli, Franco Mastragostino and Chiara Saraceno have been designated by the University's Board of Directors and Academic Senate as members of the Committee that will assess the candidacies

President Daniele Finocchiaro established today the Committee for Candidates for the Rectorship of the University of Trento which, based on the charter and the general regulation of the University, will publish an announcement for the vacant post with the deadline for applications and then assess the submitted applications. The term of office of the current Rector, Paolo Collini, will expire on 31 March 2020.

The members of the Committee for Candidates for the Rectorship, established today by University's Academic Senate and Board of Directors, are:

Carla Locatelli, professor emerita and former vice rector for international relationships of the University of Trento (appointed by the Academic Senate);
Franco Mastragostino, jurist, professor of the University of Bologna, former dean of the Faculty of Law and member of the Board of Directors of the University of Trento (jointly appointed by the Board of Directors and the Academic Senate);
Chiara Saraceno, sociologist, honorary fellow of Collegio Carlo Alberto in Torino, former academic of the University of Trento and member of the Board of Directors (appointed by the Board of Directors).

The establishment of the committee is the first step in the election of the next Rector of the University of Trento. Under the provisions of the University charter, the Rector is elected from among the full professors of the University of Trento and of other universities who are working full time or who undertake to work full time if elected.

The Committee will assess each application based on the academic qualifications and experience of the candidates, in particular in the management of complex academic institutions and the involvement in and academic responsibility for important national and international research projects.

Having appointed the Committee, the President of the Board of Governors, Daniele Finocchiaro, will soon publish an announcement for the vacant post that specifies the deadline for applications, the qualifications required, the list of documents that must be attached and the general selection criteria.
