EVENT POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The Neuroscience Olympiad is the Italian chapter of the International Brain Bee World Championship (IBB), an international competition for high school students aged between 13 and 19 that challenges the participants on their knowledge of neuroscience.

The topics students have to face include, among others: intelligence, memory, emotions, stress, ageing, neural plasticity, sleep and nervous system disorders.

The purpose of the competition is to inspire school-age students to study the structure and functioning of the human brain and to attract young talents to pursue research careers in basic and clinical neuroscience, to tackle one of the millennium challenges.

The 2021 Neuroscience Olympiad runs in 3 stages:

  • at the local level (27 February 2021): in schools. Every school selects its 5 best students;
  • at regional level (20 March 2021): every region will select its best student; in Trentino Alto Adige, this phase will take place in Trento;
  • at national level (6-7 May 2021): in Naples, the winner will be selected from among the regional finalists.

The winner will receive a scholarship to represent Italy in the international phase of the competition, that will take place in San Diego, CA (USA), from 12 to 15 August 2021.
